....I'm such a tease! I get all worked up about starting a new sequence of dailies and then put on the brakes again. It will all be worth the wait! I've got lots of irons in the creative fire at the moment and some new business ventures brewing as well. I've outgrown my studio space this month!

This piece has taken quite a number of days to complete, so consider it a few dailies folded into one, intricate piece! it is also designed to have delicately carved wooden legs to stand on- but I need to resolve some technical difficulties first! I'll re-post it if I can overcome the small physics challenge involved! The silhouette is that of my daughter, Malena. Happy mother's day, everyone.

The images used in this series are from two photographs of Palma de Mallorca in 1910. I am going to move soon into Palma, this move being my 17th in 21 years...hence the title. The title also comes from the last line in the text that acts as a thread through the series of 8. Normally the text I use is pretty well obscured under paint, but this contribution was so appropriate, I decided to let it be read.

The above is a shot I took quickly at the recent exhibition in Palma. The show comes down this weekend and I will document it better (before the pieces go off to their new homes... ). in the next 8 days I will post images of each painting so you can get a closer look. The Moving Story text was provided by my friend Xavi. I will include the English translation in each post. Thanks, Xavi, for your bilingual contribution that has piqued a lot of interest.

I created this series as Dailies following the set of 8 Home Sweet Home pieces in the previous posts. I am again reminded how great and challenging Daily Painting can be. The last 8, Home Sweet Home I called the whole set, was a torture! Not necessarily the results, but the process. I let my 'rules' for dailies slip and started to over-labor them. It ended up taking two days per piece. Not a crime, I know, but I was up to my old tricks and didn't feel free while working. I quickly adjusted this by continuing the following week (plus one day) with Expert Mover, again limiting materials and time and no re-working allowed. Oh well, it's all part of the discovery process.

This marks the first daily painting in my third series: Moving Stories; one that will continue for 14 days. As I complete each 'run' I find I get to a point of exhaustion (or at least boredom or annoyance) of the chosen methods and materials and it is time to sit back, reflect, and then transform some of the better pieces into large scale works. My first series (Open Boxes) was 60 days; the second (Continuum) 32 days, so I am doing a short set to see what a short term evolution looks like.

At last I have started a new bunch of Daily paintings. I have not abandoned the open boxes - I am in the process of selecting some of those to transform into large scale pieces.

To continue, here you have Series 2: a warm color palette of collage materials, metallics, and rusted found objects on wood panel, all on a square format. The compositions continue to be inspired by architecture, moving living quarters, floor plans, etc.
