Expert Mover: Day 1

Expert Mover: Day 1

8 X 16 inches (20 X 40 cm) collage and mixed media

The images used in this series are from two photographs of Palma de Mallorca in 1910. I am going to move soon into Palma, this move being my 17th in 21 years...hence the title. The title also comes from the last line in the text that acts as a thread through the series of 8. Normally the text I use is pretty well obscured under paint, but this contribution was so appropriate, I decided to let it be read.

Here it is in English, then Spanish:

There are those who organize, coordinate and think things over 14 times, trying to have it all under control...

Hay quien las organiza, coordina y piensa 14 veces, intentando asegurarse de tenerlo todo bajo control...

Catching up: New set of Dailies "Expert Mover"

Expert Mover, set of 8

8 X 16 inches ea. (20 X 40cm ea.) collage; mixed media

The above is a shot I took quickly at the recent exhibition in Palma.  Thanks, Xavi, for contributing your bilingual 'moving story', one that has piqued a lot of interest.

I created this series as Dailies following the set of 8 Home Sweet Home pieces in the previous posts. I am again reminded how great and challenging Daily Painting can be. The process of creating the last 8, called Home Sweet Home, was torture! I let my 'rules' for dailies slip and started to over-labor them. I quickly adjusted this by continuing the following week (plus one day) with Expert Mover, again limiting materials and time and no re-working allowed. Oh well, it's all part of the discovery process.
